Make-up

My favourite make-up products

My first ever blog post – how scary.

I have always suffered with oily skin which is prone to breakouts, so I am constantly trying and testing new products in attempt to make myself feel more confident. It can be really disheartening when you just don’t feel pretty after spending ages on your make up! So here is a list of my all time favourite make-up products. I hope you like them too.

  1. NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette – £18
I spent ages trying to find a contour and highlighting palette. After trying various different palettes I was going to purchase Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, because I was fed up with spending £5/£10 here and there on small palettes that just wasn’t doing it for me. However spending £40 on 6 shades just isn’t acceptable for me. So I continued my research and I found the NYX palette, which was pretty much brand new at the time – I hadn’t even heard of the brand. But I am so glad I found it, the shades are very flattering on the skin and not orangey at all! it suits all skin tones as well, as I go from milk to black when I see the sun and I could still use the same palette. 8 contour shades for £18 is an absolute bargain!

  2. W7 Eyeshadow Palettes – £9.95
Prior to having these palettes I used to just buy individual eyeshadows from various different brands, however I really liked my friends Naked eyeshadow palettes but I just couldn’t justify spending £38.50 for eyeshadow! I then came across the brand W7 and thought I would try the ‘nude’ palette, I now literally own 5 different palettes and absolutely love them all! The price is £9.95 on their website, but I have previously found them in ASDA for £7 so keep your eyes open! I really recommend checking them out!

  3. Avon MagiX HD Finishing Powder – £10.50 regular price but often on sale
I suffer badly with oily skin especially in the summer. I work a 9-5 job so when I apply my make-up in the morning by the time I drive home I can’t help but look at myself in the mirror and feel vile at how oily my skin looks. I researched into what I could do and found suggestions of using products like bobby brown blotting paper – £18 and Lancôme La Base Pro Perfecting Make up Primer – £28.50 for 25ml. But when I found Avon finishing powder on offer for £5 I thought I would give it a try. I love it! I really don’t know what I would do without it now, it makes me feel so much happier with my skin. I apply it with a big fluffy makeup brush, it makes my skin look and feel so soft – completely opposite to the oily feel I was used to.

  4. MAC Lipsticks – £15.50
Although £15.50 is quite pricey for a lipstick – they are still one of my favourites. Prior to using a MAC lipstick I thought a lipstick just was a lipstick, and it was pointless spending a lot of money on them. BUT i really wanted a lipstick which would last. After research i decided to give MAC lipsticks a go, after reading so many positive reviews that the colour really does last all day. I was not disappointed i now own about 7 different colours – my favourites being Velvet Teddy, Rebel & All fired up. mac lipstick
  5. NYX Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour – £8
I personally have the ash brown colour – but there are plenty of colours to choose from. I have tried loads of brow pencils, with non really impressing me that much until i tried NYX. I find with some brow pencils and powder that they come out too red or too dark. The product lasts all day, even in the hot weather or in the gym and I’m constantly wiping my brows in the gym completely forgetting i could rub them off! £8 for a brow pencil and a contour colour for the surrounding area is a bargain! 6. Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner – £14.50
Before trying this product i was desperately searching for an eyeliner that lasted all day, easy to apply and could survive any weather. Once i came across this eyeliner i nearly didn’t buy it due to all the negative reviews on the urban decay website, but i am sooooo glad i did!! It is by far the best eyeliner i have ever used! It stays on all day without fading and i love how black it is. The ultra-fine brush allows you to create fine lines which is perfect for winged eyeliner. Prior to this product i really struggled to do winged eyeliner due to various different reasons, but the urban decay product has definitely allowed me to improve. I brought this eyeliner in April and it is now August and there is still plenty left despite me using it pretty much every day! It also removes very easy with make-up wipes. I would definately recommend this eyeliner!
