Is Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation worth it?

After seeing a huge mix of reviews i was really unsure of whether to purchase the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation, because lets face it £31 is a lot of money for a bottle of foundation!

I have really oily skin which is prone to breakouts. I have been using MAC studio fix foundation for years, but it was no longer suiting my skin and after a day at work my face looked soooooo greasy and it feels horrendous!

Is it worth the money?

After using the foundation for nearly a month now i absolutely love it and so does my skin! You can’t even tell i have oily skin, even after having the foundation on all day! I would definitely say it is worth the money – it has improved my confidence massively!! And i finally feel that i have my oily skin under control.

I was previously paying £22 for MAC studio fix foundation, so i don’t mind paying the extra £9 for the improvements it has on my make-up.

Top tips….

  1. I would not purchase this product if i didn’t have oily skin. The foundation is purposely dries out your skin, so i can imagine it would feel extremely uncomfortable if you already had dry skin!
  2. Do not apply with a beauty blender. I found that the foundation soaks into the sponge and you actually waste your foundation, i find it much better to apply with a foundation brush.
  3. Always apply a primer or moisturiser. Even though i have really oily skin i find that if i don’t apply some kind of primer before the foundation, my skin feels really sore because the foundation dries your skin out that much.

I had seen a lot of girls claiming that the foundation felt like cement on their face. If you are thinking of trying this foundation i would definitely recommend you going into a shop and asking for a demo before making any decisions. This is because everyones face is sooo different and i’m so glad i didn’t let negative reviews put me off trying the foundation.

Do you struggle with oily or blemish prone skin? I’d love to know what products you use to control this?!

Love,

Ellie x

    1. Have you tried MAC foundation? i used to love that for my skin as it went on smoothly and kept my spots/blemishes under control. I had to stop using it because it was too oily for my skin otherwise i would of sticked with it… X

  1. This products sounds really good, I’d have to hunt for it in my country
I have such an oily skin that I get super scared of using my foundation most of the time because everything just gets too oily too quickly.
Hope this helps if I can lay my hands on it ☺

    1. I hope you do! What country are you from? …. It’s so good – normally my blusher and highlighter kind of just sink into my oily skin. This foundation makes my skin feel completely different X

  2. I used to use the Laura Mercier mineral powder foundation but as my skin is ‘ageing’ I swapped over to the Estee Lauder Double Wear. However, I put a Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser on first and then use a ‘stipple’ brush to build up cover with the double wear on my t zone where I have oily skin and I also suffer with rosacea so need to build up coverage on my cheeks. This seems to work really well without being too heavy all over and the stipple brush means it’s not too cloggy..

    1. I will have to look into that too then! I’ve found that now it’s getting into the winter it feels quite heavy on my skin but i still want the coverage for my oily skin so i don’t want to swap from Estee Lauder
